- a) Provide students with quality and state-of-the art software testing tools in learning practical software testing technique;
- b) Strengthen the quality and facilities further development of Software Engineering Education in IT/IVE(TY); and
- c) Support downstream R&D of Software Quality Assurance in the IT/IVE(TY). This Compuware Software Testing Laboratory is the first of this kind in Hong Kong.
In September 2002, our IT department has secured an ITF grant through a partnership with the Hong Kong Baptist Univeristy (HKBU), Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA). The total value of this project is $7.07 million. The main objective of this project is to develop a method to estimate the location of mobile devices (such as mobile phones) solely with the data that can be obtained from the wireless network. No extra hardware is required in to add onto the existing wireless network. Such a system would be most useful in big cities with urban canyons like Hong Kong since Global Positioning Systems (GPS) do not work well in these areas.
Our department, together with The University of Hong Kong, has been awarded a HK$3.5 million ITF Grant to help ASM Pacific develop a CASE tool to generate programs for motion control of automated machines.
